Eid ul-Fitr (Arabic: عيد الفطر ‘Īdu l-Fiṭr‎;), often abbreviated to Eid, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm). Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity," while Fiṭr means "original nature," implying the restoration of one's best human composition.

This festivity actualy is not only a celebration but more as a reminder for us. Our original nature is a universal and immutable given of the metaphysical human condition. Ibn Arabi identifies the primordial human disposition with the sum of the attributes of perfection possessed by the human spirit at its creation.

Although man has been created with a natural tendency towards the righteousness, his weakness and forgetfulness are part of the spectrum of human being, he sees himself at all time and forgets his source. Our creation like Adam, in the likeness of God, our primordial disposition or fitrah that lies at the very core of our being awaiting our remembrance.

Fitrah is the pattern according to which God has created all thing.

Submission to it brings harmony, for it means realisation of what is inherent in one’s true nature. Hopefully, Ied ul-Fitr become our restoration of our remembrance and submission to our primordial disposition.
